The longer thread lead (chamfer) protects the individual cutting edges of the tap, as the load during the cutting process is distributed over more teeth. This results in a longer tool life for the taps. The long thread lead also ensures better guidance in the pre-drilled core hole, reducing the risk of a misaligned thread. Application: good-to-machine materials up to 900 N/mm² unalloyed and low-alloy steels for through holes The M 2x0.35 fine thread is frequently used, for example, in nail scissors, where a screw holds the two halves of the scissors together. Due to the fine pitch, more turns of thread can be produced into the relatively thin material, which increases the stability of the connection between the two scissors halves.
