Green ring
VÖLKEL HSSE Green ring taps
The green ring taps are robust HSSE machine taps for universal use in series and individual machining and offering professional users a cost-effective solution for thread cutting. The VÖLKEL green ring machine taps are for metric standard threads up to M 30 and in the JIS standard also for metric fine threads up to M 16x1.0 available.

VÖLKEL HSSE Green ring taps
The taps have a special HSSE alloy and optimised cutting geometry, which results in high breakage resistance and better cutting performance. For this reason, threads can be cut without any problems in materials with a tensile strength of up to 1000 N/mm². The taps are also (conditionally) suitable for tapping in long-chipping brass and aluminium alloys (content of silicon 0.5-10%).
The materials table contains some examples of application with material numbers and tensile strength which are suitable to cut with the VÖLKEL HSSE green ring machine taps.

Material number: The material number is a standardised, unique identifier for technical materials for a reliable identification. The material number consists of a main group number, separated by a dot from the four-digit grade number. The main group indicates the main material group (e.g. a 1 for steels). The subsequent grade number designates the exact material grade within the main group and also includes properties such as alloy type (chemical composition of the material).
Example (simply explained): 1.0715 (main group 1 = steel / grade number 0715 = free-cutting steel) = Free-cutting steel usually contains carbon (C), silicon (Si), manganese (Mn), phosphorus (P) and sulphur (S). The free-cutting steel 9SMn28 is a material that is very easy to machine and is therefore also very suitable for thread cutting.
