For easy loosening and controlled tightening of the hard-to-reach fastening screw of the toothed-belt tensioning pulley. The 3/8" square on the adapter spanner and the torque conversion formula applied due to the extended leverage allow controlled tightening with a conventional 3/8" torque spanner. Required, for example, when changing the timing belt or replacing the cylinder head gasket, etc.
